چکیده
In this paper we consider the discounted 0–1 knapsack problem (DKP), which is an extension of classical where a set items decomposed into groups three items. At most one item can be chosen from each group and aim to maximize total profit selected while respecting capacity constraint. The DKP relatively recent in literature. It was considered several works metaheuristics are implemented solve instances propose two-phase approach reduced by applying exact / or heuristic fixation rules first phase that viewed as preprocessing phase. remaining then solved dynamic programming. Experiments performed on available literature show techniques very useful these instances. Indeed, greatly reduces size instances, leading significant reduction time required for programming provide optimal solution. Then, generate new more difficult methods. hardness confirmed experimentally considering both use CPLEX solver our approach.

Exact and approximate algorithms for discounted {0-1} knapsack problem
The D iscounted {0-1} K napsack P roblem (D{0-1}KP) is an extension of the classical 0-1 knapsack problem (0-1 KP) that consists of selecting a set of item groups where each group includes three items and at most one of the three items can be selected. The D{0-1}KP is more challenging than the 0-1 KP because four choices of items in an item group diversify the selection of the items. In this pa...
متن کاملCombining Constraint Propagation and Discrete Ellipsoid-Based Search to Solve the Exact Quadratic Knapsack Problem
We propose an extension to the discrete ellipsoid-based search (DEBS) to solve the exact quadratic knapsack problem (EQKP), an important class of optimization problem with a number of practical applications. For the first time, our extension enables DEBS to solve convex quadratically constrained problems with linear constraints. We show that adding linear constraint propagation to DEBS results ...
متن کاملAlgorithms to solve the knapsack constrained maximum spanning tree problem
The knapsack problem and the minimum spanning tree problem are both fundamental in operations research and computer science. We are concerned with a combination of these two problems. That is, we are given a knapsack of a fixed capacity, as well as an undirected graph where each edge is associated with profit and weight. The problem is to fill the knapsack with a feasible spanning tree such tha...
متن کاملHeuristic and exact algorithms for the max-min optimization of the multi-scenario knapsack problem
We are concerned with a variation of the standard 0–1 knapsack problem, where the values of items differ under possible S scenarios. By applying the ‘pegging test’ the ordinary knapsack problem can be reduced, often significantly, in size; but this is not directly applicable to our problem. We introduce a kind of surrogate relaxation to derive upper and lower bounds quickly, and show that, with...
متن کاملHeuristic Approaches to Solve Traveling Salesman Problem
This paper provides the survey of the heuristics solution approaches for the traveling salesman problem (TSP). TSP is easy to understand, however, it is very difficult to solve. Due to complexity involved with exact solution approaches it is hard to solve TSP within feasible time. That’s why different heuristics are generally applied to solve TSP. Heuristics to solve TSP are presented here with...
